Following Google’s recent ‘Mayday Mayhem’ algorithm change, the importance of back links towards your blog has never been greater. There is however a fine line between creating enough backlinks for Google to position your website well and creating just a few too many, which could leave your site battling with the dreaded Google Slap.
So is there a safe way to generate and point thousands of links to your money pages without the chance of seeing your blog de-indexed? Luckily for us impoverished Web marketers there is.
The approach is a truly simple one, but to employ it successfully requires a degree of organization and a great deal of work.
The key lies in the trust that Google places in the bigger Web 2.0 sites like Hubpages, Squidoo, Posterus together with other similar web sites.
Creating accounts at these websites and then publishing content to them with one way links pointing back at your money page is nothing new, in fact if you haven’t been doing this currently then you have been disregarding an important Search engine optimisation tool.
But, simply tossing a few posts onto half a dozen web 2.0 websites and catching a few random backlinks is not the most efficient use of your time and efforts and it can not really be regarded as a good Search engine optimisation and backlinking program.
So what should you be doing?
Well in simple terms, you should be linking your web 2.0 properties together then throwing as many links as is possible towards those websites.
So, for example, if you happen to created accounts at Posterous, Weebly, Squidoo and WordPress, you would post an article to each site with a link pointing towards your money pages. This article would also provide a link pointing to one of the other Web 2.0 websites. As an example, the content on Posterous would have a hyperlink towards your money page and a hyperlink the new post on Weebly. In turn the Weebly article would again link to your money pages but additionally to the article on Squidoo etc . until you have a ring of sites, each with a keyword rich link back to your money pages. Consider it like a wheel and the hyperlinks back to your money pages as the spokes to that wheel. Hence the term Linkwheel.
But, even though that structure is superior to independent Web 2.0 web-sites, still it isn’t particularly good.
What you need to do now is take hold of the RSS feed for all the Web 2.0 properties and submit them to loads of RSS directories, the more the better, But at least 10. After that take your RSS feeds and mash them up into a fresh RSS feed by using a site such as Yahoo Pipes or maybe xFruits, then distribute that to all the RSS directories too.
So what you will have now is a bunch of web sites with at the very least 11 backlinks aiming towards each of them.
But, we shouldn’t stop there. Next you need to create accounts at as many social bookmarking web sites as you can and then bookmark everyone of your new Web 2.0 web sites plus the new content on each of the websites.
So, lets say you have set up accounts on sites like Propellor, Digg, Delicious or whatever your favorites are, then each of those will add an extra two backlinks to each website within your linkwheel.
So, what next? How about taking the urls of your new bookmarks and cross submitting them to the other bookmarking web-sites, then get the RSS feeds for those bookmarks and upload them to the top RSS directories.
Are you currently keeping count of the backlinks that are being generated here?
Your 4 Web 2.0 properties have 44 RSS feeds and 120 bookmarks, then everyone of those 120 bookmarks might have an additional 120 bookmarks pointing at it, that’s around fourteen thousand backlinks up to now. To that you may add a shed load of RSS feeds.
What about if you make some forum profiles with hyperlinks to every one of your linkwheel web-sites, then bookmark every one of those and add them to RSS directories?
Do you spot what is occurring here? The link juice that flows from those 1000′s of backlinks you’ve just produced is running straight into your Web 2.0 internet sites. After that the power of that entire link network is funnelled straight into your money pages. And because Google loves WEB 2.0 web-sites your money site has a zero possibility of getting slapped or de-indexed.
So, whilst on early inspection it may look like your site just has 4 backlinks pointing toward it, the consolidated link juice from those internet sites is the same as many thousands of direct links.
Visualize now, how much link power could be let loose onto you money pages if, rather than using just 4 Web 2.0 websites, you used, ten, fifteen or twenty-five!
