Search engine optimization has been very important to any webmaster and their website/blog success. Let’s take blog for example here. Search Engine Optimization is also known as SEO in short. If proper SEO is not done then you will lose a many visitors to your blog. There might be some potential customers among these visitors so you should take a note on this.

If you do proper optimization of your blog then that blog have high chances of getting rank well in the search engine which could brings lots of visitors. Being said that you might be wondering what the proper steps of using search engine optimization are. Some of the proper use of SEO techniques and strategies to maximize blog exposures in the search engines are.

1. Optimizing Page Titles
2. Optimizing Permalinks
3. Adding Unique Meta Descriptions
4. Avoiding duplicate content penalty
5. Creating Google Sitemaps
6. Importance of Linking Tips
7. Pinging

These all the seven topics listed above are very broad terms and can take many pages if we try to discuss in details. So let me share the quick overview of all the seven mentioned topics.

Optimizing Page titles: -

Every blog must have a title name. If the title name match the name of the domain and it’s refers to what you are going to discuss in the blog then it’s the best optimization of title. Search engine will rank such blogs with well optimized page title in the higher position then non-optimized page title blog.

Optimizing Permalinks: -

In blog, you will see that there is homepage as well as inner page. Actually main domain name is the homepage link like http://domain.com is the homepage and http://domain.com/page1 is the inner page. Now if the title of the inner page occurs in the URL of the inner page that it’s a good optimization of post. For this you will need to change the permalinks of the blog. To do this, you will need to login your blog, go to administrative dashboard, then setting, then go to permalinks. There you will have to select the custom and add this %postname%. This will take care of the optimization of permalinks.

Adding Unique Meta Description: -

In the header of your theme blog, you will need to make some changes. You will have to add the main keywords that you are going to discuss in the blog. Although many people say that Meta description doesn’t work now but it’s worth adding them. You can also use plugins if you are using WordPress as a blogging platform.

Avoiding Duplicate Content Penalty: -

Search engine don’t like the content that are repeated in other blogs. They need fresh content every time. If you copy content from other blogs and then published them in your blog. There is high chance of getting caught by search engine and penalize your blog. Imagine if your blog get penalize you will lose all the traffics you are getting from search engine hence it will drastically affect your blog success.

Creating Google Sitemap: -

Creating Google Sitemap in blogs is of great advantage. You can install Sitemap plugins if you are using WordPress platform. The advantage of using this sitemap is that if there is slight changes, update in the blog, it is instantly notified to the major search engines like Google, Yahoo and MSN. It’s help in getting quicker indexing in search engine.

Importance of Linking Tips: -

Linking too has a great relation with the SEO. Whenever you link to other blog or other blog links to you, make sure it happens as anchor linking. In anchor linking you will target few specific keywords you want to get higher position ranked in search engine. Use these keywords to link to you. You can use 1 way link, link exchange, 3 way link, article submissions, directory submissions to get quality links to your blog.

Pinging: -

Pinging is very important for any blog. Ping is actually a method of notifying major search engines and some websites about update in blog. If you use WordPress blog then you can put some code which will automatically do the pinging for you.

How To Increase Internet Traffic

Bringing Traffic to Your Site

If you do any sort marketing online, whether it is for a brick and mortar store or you are trying to get an online store off the ground, you'll find that without traffic, you are going nowhere fast. It doesn't matter how good your product is or how little you are selling it for. If people don't know it is there, or if they do not feel it is worth clicking the link to find out more, you are not going to see the numbers that you want. Luckily enough, there are many ways to get the internet traffic you need, and it is no where near as difficult as you may be afraid of.

The first and best way to pull people to your site is through articles. Articles let you build up your reputation as being a knowledgeable source online and as someone who should be consulted for information. On top of that, articles allow you to be much more findable by the search engines like Google and Yahoo. The words give the search engines something to identify, and when you put the extra effort into making the articles keyword optimized you can target very specific portions of the Internet population and bring them to your website itself. Article writing can bring you more hits than you thought possible.

Another great way to bring search engines and interested people to your site is through the use of backlinks. Essentially backlinks are links that go to your site, where you do not link back. For this purpose, a link exchange does not work, but there are plenty of links that do. For instance, links can be put at the bottom of articles that you submit to directories, they can be put in your signature when you post to forums and they can also simply be left on the comments that you post in blogs. Each link of this nature creates an increase in the value of your site according to the search algorithms of the search engines.

Finally, make sure that look into the help that you can get when you want to bring more traffic to your site. The truth of the matter is that while the two methods mentioned above are fairly straightforward, they are quite time consuming and on top of that, they are very easy to get wrong. For instance, Google does make a distinction between good keyword optimization and keyword spamming, and treading the line between them can be very difficult. There are organizations out there that are meant to help you with just this problem. Instead of being forced to worry about getting people to come see your product, you'll be able to work on developing your products or services and making them better.

Take some time and make sure that you evaluate what your options are going to be when it comes to bringing traffic to your site. This is something that can make a huge difference to how successful your web business and who comes to see you.

How To Increase Your Alexa Ranking

In other posts I introduced and discussed the importance of the website traffic monitor AlexaRank. Whether you value your Alexa traffic ranking or not there are definite advantages to having a high AlexRank. Many webmasters and business folk look at the AlexaRank as a reasonable representation of a site’s traffic. If you are selling advertising from your site the more “proof” you can demonstrate of your traffic – and in AlexaRank’s case it is an independent valuation of your traffic, which adds credibility – the more likely advertisers will come knocking at your door willing to give you some of their ad budget.

An AlexaRank Experiment

Desi Stories

AlexaRank is calculated using the Alexa Toolbar. Alexa takes the browsing data from the millions of people using the Toolbar and calculates the traffic ranking of each site. As Alexa states, while low traffic sites are harder to gauge accurately, once a site reaches a 100,000 or less ranking the accuracy of the measure increases. Hence if you can top a 10,000 AlexaRank, or even 1000, the credibility of that ranking is increased.
As Blaine Moore pointed out in a comment made to my previous AlexaRank article, it is easy to – as he put it – “game” the AlexaRank if you have a tool that checks AlexaRank installed on your computer, and that doesn’t have to be just the toolbar, it can be for a FireFox extension like SearchStatus, which I recently installed on my browser. These tools send data to Alexa, and when Alexa receives any data about your surfing habits it will raise the traffic rankings for the sites you provide data for – and if you visit your own sites often you can raise your ranking.
I can’t verify that installing any AlexaRank checking tool will help your own site’s AlexaRank and to be honest after I installed SearchStatus I did not notice any significant change in my AlexaRank at my blogs. It wasn’t until I conducted a different experiment that I noticed more verifiable proof of a technique to increase your site’s AlexaRank.
How I Increased My AlexaRank By More Than 25%
Here’s how my logic went – I figured the toolbar and other AlexaRank checking tools tell Alexa my browsing habits, which is fine, but I’m only one person visiting my blogs (albeit I do it many times each day). What I really want is a way to tell Alexa about every person who visits my blogs, not just me. In order to do this, the Alexa reporting tool needs to be on my blog and downloaded by every person who visits my site each time they visit.
The obvious answer was to install an Alexa Site Widget on each of my blogs. The widget looks like this:

If you click it you will be taken to my current Alexa traffic ranking data. You can also find the live widget in the sidebar of all my blogs.
After installing this widget on to my blogs, within the next few days my rankings increased at least 25%. This blog, Entrepreneurs-Journey.com, was sitting around the 19,000 AlexaRank mark and within seven days had dropped to just above 15,000 as I type this. Prior to this gain my AlexaRank increases had been slow and steady, but never as significant as this in a short period of time, unless of course I earned a traffic spike from some other site(s) linking to me.
I noticed similar results at SmallBusinessBranding.com and the BlogTrafficSchool.com Blog too, which makes me almost 100% certain that installing the Alexa site widget will increase your AlexaRank.
This makes complete sense, as my thinking above explains. If every visitor to your blog downloads the Alexa site widget when they visit your site, then Alexa has data on every visitor you have, at least every web reader, I don’t think RSS readers count since they never download the widget unless they go to your site. You might call this “gaming” your AlexaRank, but in this case I don’t think that’s an apt description – installing the site widget in fact helps to give Alexa enough data to provide your true AlexaRank, as opposed to what it thinks it should be based on the data it has from it’s toolbar users.
If you sell advertising from your blog or website then you should care about your AlexaRank. If that is the case then installing the Alexa site widget is a must. It takes only a few seconds and could significantly improve your current AlexaRank.
If any other bloggers or webmasters out there notice an increase in their AlexaRank after following my instructions and installing a site widget I’d love to hear about it. While I’m confident my results at three different blogs is good enough proof, it doesn’t hurt to have more examples to back up the hypothesis. Please leave a comment and tell me how your AlexaRank improves.

Backlinks Stop The Crazy Trading!

Okay everywhere you go you hear Google rates you on how many links you have linking to your site. You also hear about the infamous link trade!

Let me tell you straight off, do not trade links. Why should you? First of all trading links is a bad way to get links back to your site. Search engines like it more when a site links to you and you are not linking back. That means to the search engine your content is quality.

The problem is for most people how to get link without negotiating link trades. Well the answer is so incredibly easy no one is speaking of it. Its profiles! You can create profiles for free all over the place. Myspace, facebook, yahoo, msn, google, and twitter are the major social sites to create profiles on. However it doesn’t end their.

Create profiles on social bookmarking sites also. I know of over 100 social bookmarking sites that all allow you to create profiles and each one allows you to add a link back to your site. Thats hundreds of free one way links. But wait, it still doesn’t end their.

You also have web forums. Most bulletin board software on web forums allow you to create a profile, add a signature, etc. The profile is a static one way link back to your site. You don’t even have to make a post! So where else can you get free profiles?

How about blog sites? Yup thats right. A lot of wordpress blogs allow you to create a profile and add a link. You can also create blogger profiles without owning a blog. The same is true of livejournal.

Also don’t forget to create profiles at your free article directory sites, and your free press release sites! They both also offer profiles most often and just another way for a free link!

The truth is creating profiles is very time consuming but there are literally tens of thousands of free linkbacks to be had if you are willing to take the time to do it.

Let me also give you a little piece of advise that will allow you to beat the current system. See common belief is you need links from relevant websites. This is not the case for search engine rankings if you create your profile in the correct manner.

Simply put, use a keyword or keyphrase for your profile name and use a different keyword or keyphrase for your real name. For example most of the sites I have profiles on I can be found as one of the following: “blogging for bucks”, “bloggingforbucks”, blogging4bucks”, “blogging 4 bucks”, or “blog marketing” .

Because your name becomes your keywords, your link relevancy is greater on search engines!

A perfect example of what I mean is exactly as follows: I create a profile using the name Blog Marketing (or BlogMarketing). I add my url http://theda420.info to the profile and instantly my name becomes the link "blog marketing"

Now when it comes to getting other blogs to link for you, I have one piece of advise, let your content work for itself! If someone REALLY thinks your content is good, they are going to link to you. Trust me on this.

If you are not getting people who link to you without you linking back, its because your content is not interesting or is not original. You need to change your site at that point and figure out whats wrong!

Also another tip you can use is adding a link directory to your blog. I did this and use it for all the people who personally email me or contact me in some way asking for link trades. I do this so I can keep my main blog content 100% clean and relevant to the topic at hand. To see what I mean check my blog directory: The Blog Marketing Link Directory

The concept behind this article and idea you need to keep in mind is that link trading is bad. Figure out ways to keep one way links with very little trading. If you must trade, don't do front page trades (however if your site is good enough it is okay to require front page links back).
